About Soluro

Luis Humberto Lopez was born and raised in San Dionisio Ocotepec, a small village located in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca. He is a descendant of the Zapotec civilization and is a 3rd generation mezcalero, speaking Zapoteco, Spanish and English. Luis currently resides in Los Angeles, promoting his mezcal and sharing it's history.

Even after moving to the States at ten years old, Luis continued learning about his family's art and devoted his life to mastering the craft. As Luis grew older, he became more aware of the need for employment in his village. Using his family's land, he built his very own Palenque, a mezcal distillery, where he can not only help grow his community but also share his unique gift with the world.

Using the first two letters of his and his parent's names, Sofia, Luis, and Roberto, as well as the year his village was founded, Soluro was brought to life.
